A New Approach to Cancer with BNCT: Poly Pharm Brings Its Full Boron Drug Chain to ICNCT-21
The 21st International Congress on Neutron Capture Therapy (ICNCT-21) will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 25 to 30 October. Organised every two years by the International Society for Neutron Capture Therapy (ISNCT), it is the largest international scientific meeting in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT).
Devices are going global; boron drugs will decide how far the therapy can go
BNCT needs a boron drug and a neutron beam working together. In 2020, the world's first BNCT drug-device combination was approved in Japan for head and neck cancer, and accelerator-based neutron sources have since been built in a growing number of countries and regions. Once the device is in place, treatment depends on the boron drug: whether it can target the tumour, cover more tumour types and raise the T/N ratio (the boron concentration in tumour relative to normal tissue). These are exactly the directions Poly Pharm is working on.
About Poly BNCT
BNCT is set to be one of Poly Pharm's core businesses. Building on more than 30 years of experience in sterile injectables and active pharmaceutical ingredients, and more than 200 overseas drug registrations, Poly Pharm covers the full chain of boron drug development, from molecular design and screening through development and clinical studies to regulatory filing. We aim to help peers in the field, including research institutes and device companies, broaden their pipelines and reach international markets.
Pipeline, products and services
✅ ¹⁰B-BPA: Currently in Phase II.
Chemical purity 99.9%, ¹⁰B abundance 99%. Independently completed the process manufacturing from raw materials to finished products. The U.S. FDA Type II Drug Master File (DMF #044131) has been submitted, and pre IND has been completed. Phase I in mainland of China has been completed, and Phase II is currently in progress. Research-grade and GMP-grade raw materials, lyophilized powder injections, and other formulations are available, with quantities ranging from grams to kilograms, and DMF authorization letters are provided.
✅¹⁰B-BSH: a molecular building block for novel boron drugs.
Each molecule carries 12 boron atoms, with 99% chemical purity and 99% ¹⁰B enrichment, in research and GMP grades. Using BSH units, Poly Pharm has designed and synthesised boron conjugates carrying up to 1,200 boron atoms per molecule, and offers CDMO services from molecular design to regulatory filing.
✅Novel boron drugs: an open pipeline, with five programmes under way.
PL009 (breast cancer) has reached the preclinical candidate (PCC) stage and is moving towards an IND application. PL012 (osteosarcoma, a rare disease), the dual-target programmes (pancreatic and prostate cancers, with preclinical studies expected to complete in 2027) and the BDC antibody-boron conjugate (breast and lung cancers) are in preclinical development. They share one goal: to destroy tumours precisely, preserve organs and give patients a better quality of life. Partnering options include licensing, joint INDs and CDMO.
manufacturing and regulatory filing.
What Poly Pharm can bring you
• BNCT device companies: a more specialised, more reliable boron drug supplier, and an ideal partner for joint registration; together we can file for approval and take the therapy to overseas markets.
• Hospitals and BNCT centres: a compliant boron drug supplier offering more specialised, safer and more reliable service, supporting work from drug discovery to investigator-initiated clinical studies.
• Regional partners: BNCT offers precision cancer treatment with wide potential, and could become a new source of sales growth.
• Pharma and biotech companies: end-to-end CDMO, from molecular design to GMP manufacturing and regulatory filing.
• Research institutes: research-grade BPA, BSH and custom ¹⁰B intermediates from gram quantities, with support from animal studies to regulatory work, helping research ideas reach patients sooner.
• Investors: with double-digit compound growth, BNCT is an emerging force in precision cancer treatment, and boron drugs are a key part of it.
Only an open spirit builds a thriving ecosystem
The advancement of BNCT depends on collaboration among drug developers, device companies, hospitals and research institutes. Poly BNCT aims to offer more than products and services: integrated solutions covering development, manufacturing and registration. We hope to be a long-term strategic partner, working openly with partners across the field to advance BNCT together.
